****  Please start trying to use the APA SCOREKEEPER APP.  We would like to go completely paperless by 2025!!***  The App can be found in the app store for your phone or tablet.  There are also video’s on how to use the app on YouTube.  You can find a link to the app on our website, ctapa.com.

Team Captains need to have a working daytime phone number and correct email address on file. We have started to use a new texting app to get in touch with teams for schedule changes and other important league information. Please make sure that we have your updated information.

BONUS POINTS – to receive your bonus points:

1.     A picture of your scoresheet needs to be e-mailed to scoresheets@ctapa.com no later than 11am the morning after play (if using scorekeeper app, it needs to be submitted at the conclusion of your match).

2.     Mailed payments need to be postmarked no later than 2 days after your scheduled match.

3.     non-Automatic credit card payments, you need to follow the same guidelines as teams mailing in their payment. You will have to call within 2 days of your match to charge (calling in every 2 weeks does not keep your bonus points UNLESS you are pre-paying a week).

MEMBERSHIP - All BRAND-NEW players must pay their $30 membership fee the first time they play. Existing members MUST pay their yearly membership before the 4th week of play, or they will be dropped from rosters.

SCORESHEETS - All teams print their own scoresheets! Directions on printing scoresheets are available on the app/website, ctapa.com, in our local bylaws. Schedules are also available on the app.

PLEASE put your team number in the subject line when sending us the picture of your scoresheet each week. There is a free app called CAMSCANNER and we would prefer you use this to send in the picture of your sheets. When you download CAMSCANNER it will initially tell you that it is $59 per year, just close out that screen and you can use the free version.

·        To use the app, you snap a picture of the sheet, and it will auto crop and adjust for the best quality

·        Select EMAIL as a PDF FILE and send to scoresheets@ctapa.com

·        Teams e-mailing their scoresheets with a clear picture or pdf no longer need to mail in the original scoresheet.

KEEPING SCORE – Scorekeepers need to understand how to keep score correctly and to appropriately mark innings and defensive shots. All innings should be totaled after each match in the “total innings” box. If your team is unfamiliar with what a defensive shot it, the APA has many video tutorials on YouTube. Innings and defensive shots do not need to match up, they should not be compared. When scoring 9-Ball teams should be comparing only the ball count after each rack. There is no need to compare innings or defensive shots with your opponents.

SCOREKEEPER APP - We have turned on the APA scorekeeper app for all our divisions so that you may become familiar with using the app to keep score instead of paper. At this time, you are not required to use the app. If you decide to try out the scoring app, at least one team must still use paper scoring in case the app goes offline during the match.

PATCHES - We will mail out patches and any necessary materials a few times each session. We will also mail return envelopes at the beginning of the session. Please go to poolplayers.com and claim your account if you have not already done so.  We have the following Patches in our area:  8-Ball Break & Run; 8-Ball on the Break; 9-Ball Break & Run, 9-Ball on the Break, Rackless in 8-Ball; Shut-out in 9-ball.  8-Ball Mini-Slam; 9-Ball Mini-Slam.  Grandslam (Grandslam patches are given out by the session) .

FACEBOOK - Our online Facebook group is The Connecticut APA Pool League. Please make sure at least one member of your team is a member of the group. We post important updates and league information in the group. We also post our tournaments as events on our Connecticut APA Page on Facebook.

GHOST RULE – Please refer to the bylaws on ctapa.com for all Ghost Rule information. We are allowing 4 ghost rules per session.

ROSTER CHANGES – Teams have until the 7th week of play to make rosters changes UNLESS YOU ARE A QUALIFIED TEAM.  State Qualified teams will have their rosters locked on week 4 of the Spring session.  All other teams can make roster changes up until week 7.  After week 7, teams can only make changes with prior office approval and those changes will be subject to our Team Survival rules.

MATCH REQUIREMENTS - Every player must play 4 times during the session; have 6 matches overall for Qualifier Cups and 10 matches overall for the State Tournament. The 6 and 10 match qualifications MUST be attained before the end of the qualifying session and be in the last 2 years. For the Qualifier the 6 overall must be before the END of the Spring Session.  The 10 for STATES MUST BE BEFORE THE END OF THE SPRING SESSION.

Example: I have a new player who plays 4 matches during the session then plays the playoffs for a 5th match. That player is still not eligible for the Qualifier cup because they did not have 6 matches by the end of the session. Scores from the next session do not count towards the number needed.

SPLITTING TABLES - Matches must be split in accordance with the Rule book. If you are not in your 4th match and a team asks 2 hours after official start time to split matches, then you must split.

SCHEDULE CHANGES - Teams must check the poolplayers app the day before their match for any schedule changes. If there are any schedule changes after 4pm on the day before your match the office will notify you. Any changes that occur before 4pm on the day prior to your match will be updated online.

There are no full night forfeits in the first week of play. In the event of a schedule change we may ask your team to make up a match from the previous weeks. This will be at the League Operator’s discretion.

HANDICAP EVALUATION – ALL HANDICAP REVIEW REQUESTS MUST BE IN WRITING.  Handicaps are computer generated based off the information on your scoresheets. If you feel a player is under or over handicapped, then you may submit a handicap evaluation. In the "contact us" section of the ctapa.com website there is a skill level evaluation form. Please fill out and submit your evaluations there. If you are unable to access that form, then you may send an email to scoresheets@ctapa.com and it will be forwarded to Bruce. Bruce and St. Louis are the only ones who can adjust your handicap.

SPORTSMANSHIP COMPLAINTS – All complaints MUST BE IN WRITING. Please be as specific as possible when submitting your complaint. There is a sportsmanship form on ctapa.com in the "contact us" section. If you cannot access that form, then you may submit your complaint in writing to scoresheets@ctapa.com

PHYSICAL CONTACT – We have a no tolerance policy on physical contact. If you put your hands on someone you will be suspended from the CTAPA.

RULE BOOK - The rule book is online and downloadable to your device. Once you have it downloaded to your phone it is searchable. If your team hasn’t played since Covid please take a few minutes to go through the rule book for any changes that may be in place now.

LIMITED SENIOR SKILL LEVEL – Senior Skill Level players are those who have a skill level of 6 or higher. Teams may not field more than two Senior Skill Level players in a match. A violation of the rule has officially occurred when the rack is struck in an individual match involving a third Senior Skill Level player. The ineligible player forfeits the individual match, and the teams go on to the next match. The skill levels of both players will count towards the Team Skill Level Limit for that match. If a third Senior Skill Level is used, the points earned by the third Senior Skill Level player will not count. NOTE: Once both teams have declared a player, the players cannot be changed unless the Limited Senior Skill Level rule is in jeopardy

BY-LAWS - Bylaws can be found online at ctapa.com. Please make sure that you and your teammates review them. We receive the most questions regarding bonus points and on the ghost rule. Please review the bylaws online and then call our office for any clarifications if necessary.

QUESTIONS ON LEAGUE NIGHT – If you have a question on league night that needs to be answered to finish your match, you may reach out to the division representative listed on the top of your scoresheet. If you are unable to reach your division representative, you may contact one of the area mangers listed in the by-laws. Most questions can be answered by making yourself familiar with the rule book and our by-laws.

TOURNAMENTS – Tournaments are listed on our Connecticut APA Facebook page. We also mail out flyers to each team captain with the tournament information for the session. They can also be found on our website calendar and on our Facebook page (Connecticut APA) Please read through event description and details for each tournament requirements.

Tournaments are a privilege. If you are behind on weekly dues, you will not be allowed to participate in any tournaments until you are paid in full.
